Monkeys aren't fooled by expensive brands

Summary of "Unlike people, monkeys aren't fooled by expensive brands"

A study at Yale University by an undergraduate showed that Capuchin monkeys can tell the difference between expensive and good quality. Monkeys are not affected or care about how much something is, rather than the quality. In this study, Rhia Catapano and a group of colleagues took monkeys and tried to give them designer brands and then gave them cheaper, regular priced brands. The goal was to see if the monkeys could outsmart humans in the way of knowing which item is worth its price. They had to teach the monkeys how to buy foods and understand the price. When it came time for the monkeys to choose and taste, the monkeys chose the lower priced goods. The scientists were surprised tat the monkeys didn't come out with the same mindset as humans.

I chose this article because it shows that humans are not superior to everything. The study in my opinion showed that the results were different because monkeys don't live in a society or market where "higher price is better".
